Tofino Tourism Information

In the centre of Clayoquot Sound, Tofino is surrounded by crashing waves and towering rainforests.  Known to the locals as ‘Tough City’, Tofino caters to the outdoor adventurer.  Sea kayakers will be delighted with the sights and sounds of the waters in Clayoquot Sound. Watch eagles swoop overhead, and if you’re lucky, spot a black bear hunting for food on the shore. You may even cross paths with transient gray whales that live in the area. Pull your kayak up to the sandy beaches and discover incredible tide communities of sea stars, sea urchins, and many other fascinating saltwater creatures.

Tofino is 316 km (196 mi.) northwest of Victoria on the Pacific Rim Highway. Commercial airlines fly into Cassidy Airport just outside of Nanaimo 206 km (128 mi.) east of Port Alberni. BC Ferries depart from Tsawwassen and Horseshoe ferry terminals in Vancouver, and dock in Nanaimo.Elevation: 24 m (79 ft.)
